Peeler Road Shared-Use Path between Winters Chapel Road and Windwood Hollow Park
Current Activities:
(August 2024) Dunwoody staff reviewed and answered comments and concerns stemming from the May community meeting, as well as questions and comments submitted during the comment period through June 20.
(May 2024) The City is seeking community feedback through June 20th on the most recent conceptual plans. These plans include landscaping and fencing between the path and the rear property line of the homes backing up to Peeler Road based in the Four Oaks neighborhood to address privacy concerns. Two options (a mini roundabout or a refuge islane) are being considered to provide a safe pedestrian crossing and calm traffic near the Lakeside Drive intersection.
Peeler Path Project Fact Sheet
The proposed project provides a 12-foot-wide concrete path for cyclists and pedestrians separated from the roadway by a landscape buffer. The project would connect the neighborhoods along Peeler Road with Windwood Hollow Park and the restaurants and other businesses at Winters Chapel. The Peeler Road path is part of a larger system of paths that would eventually connect to Brook Run Park and the Winters Chapel Path. The project is funded through the city’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).

The concept consists of a 12-foot-wide shared use path separated from the roadway by a minimum 3 to 8-foot wide grass buffer along the northern side of Peeler Road. The path would cross a total of 2 side streets, 2 residential driveways, and 1 commercial driveway. This alternative requires narrow strips of temporary easement and/or right-of-way from up to 5 properties. The path will meander around most utility poles but a few utilities may need to be relocated. Decorative pedestrian lighting could be added throughout the project limits.
