Teen Police Academy
Participate in an up-close study of police operations!
The Dunwoody Police Department welcomes teenagers aged 14-19 to attend this FREE 5-day course designed to provide participants an inside look at local law enforcement operations and its challenges. The 2024 program was a success. Check back on this page for dates and the application for summer 2025.
Our Goal
The Dunwoody Teen Police Academy is part of the community policing efforts of the Dunwoody Police Department. The Teen Police Academy is dedicated towards enhancing the relationship between the youth of our community and our Police Department through fun and exciting interactive education. Our goal is to make the Teen Police Academy a positive, rewarding and enlightening experience for all attendees.
How does it work?
The Teen Police Academy is a 5-day summer program that will provide the youth of our community an opportunity to learn how the Dunwoody Police Department operates.

- Tour of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI)
- Tour of 911 Center
- Tour of County Jail
- Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events
- First Aid/CPR Training
- Situational Awareness
- Traffic Stop Scenarios
- Speed Detection
- Accident Reconstruction
- DUI & Field Sobriety Testing

Who can participate?
City of Dunwoody residents will have first priority in the acceptance process. Applicants must be willing to submit to a criminal history check and a driving record check prior to being accepted as Teen Police Academy students.
