Intermediate Spinning

  • You have a spinning wheel and you’re making yarn, but you’re sure there’s more you could be doing, right? In this class we’ll work on moving beyond our first skeins to something a little more refined. We’ll try our hands at various drafting techniques and how they create different yarns, look at woolen and worsted spinning (and everything in between), discuss the properties of wool, learn to hand card, ply, make skeins, and finish and store them. Lots of hands on, lots of learning, lots of fun!

  • Prerequisite: Participants should have their own spinning wheel and be able to spin, even if it is just at a beginner level.

  • There is an additional supply Fee:  $15 (includes wool top, wool fleece, and a handout)

  • Supplies: Students need to bring a spinning wheel (in good working order), wool cards (if you have them or can borrow them), and the usual spinning tools.
