Welcome to a new feature on our website, Grogan's Corner!

Chief Billy Grogan

Welcome to my Corner! This will give me an opportunity to share my thoughts about a wide range of issues of interest to both our community and to our department.  This site is a blog and I plan on trying to post something about once a week.

If you have any topics you would like to see discussed here, please email me at billy.grogan@dunwoodyga.gov and share them with me.  My hope is that this blog will offer something of value to the community.

Be well,

Chief Billy Grogan

  • National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

In October of 2011, after and long and thoughtful discussion, the City of Dunwoody changed E-911 providers and joined the Chattahoochee River 9-1-1 Authority or ChatComm.  Sand Springs and Johns Creek formed the authority and the City of Dunwoody is a subscriber.

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.  This one week a year has been set aside to pay tribute to the men and women serving in emergency dispatch centers all across our nation.

The Dunwoody Police Department is proud to recognize and honor our ChatComm Call Takers, Dispatchers and other staff members for their exceptional service to our community and specifically toward the Dunwoody Police Department.  Our officers depend on them 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide accurate and timely information.  How well they do their job can be the difference maker our officers need so they can go home safe at night.

We are fortunate to have such high quality individuals providing 9-1-1 services to our community and to our officers.  Because of the nature of our jobs, the serious calls they handle together and how closely connected they are, a special bond can develop between these two groups in many communities.  We are fortunate to have that special relationship between the staff at the Dunwoody Police Department and the staff with ChatComm.   As a small token of our appreciation, we delivered a fruit basket to their office this week.  Thanks ChatComm for all that you do to keep our officers safe!
